After graduating in cultural studies and art history at the Humboldt University Berlin, she studied photography at the Ostkreuzschule Berlin and at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig/Academy of FineArts Leipzig (Klasse Bara). She uses photography as a means of self-expression to identify with hidden qualities of her character, to better understand her reality, and to express her interpretation of the world around her. By photographing, she transforms her own childhood memories. Growing up was always accompanied by the urge to discover something else. Natalia Kepesz works internationally as a photojournalist, contributing to publications such as Die ZEIT, ZeitMagazin, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Le Monde. Her photographic work explores the margins of society—places where conflict, displacement, trauma, and memory shape everyday life. She places a particular focus on Eastern Europe and the long-term impact of political instability on both individual and collective experience. Through photography, she engages with personal and social realities, using the medium to question perspectives and reveal hidden connections.
